Top seed Roger Federer eased into the last eight at the Indian Wells Masters Series tournament with a straight sets win over American Mardy Fish. Federer put in a steady performance, making just 11 unforced errors, to claim a 6-4 6-1 fourth-round victory.
The Swiss star has now won 24 out of his last 25 matches.
"In the end I thought overall I was the better player and that is what counts," said the world number one after his latest victory.
A bemused Fish said: "He's definitely the best player in the world and is obviously showing it. I'm ranked 19 and I didn't play that badly and he beat me four and one."
Federer now faces Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela, who followed up his shock win over Lleyton Hewitt by crushing Germany's Tommy Haas 6-4 6-2.
Fourth seed Guillermo Coria rallied from a set down to defeat France's Sebastien Grosjean 3-6 7-6 (7/2) 6-2.
Coria will play Andre Agassi in the next round after the American bounced back from a 4-2, 40-0 deficit to beat Russia's Mikhail Youzhny 7-5 6-2.
