Russian qualifier Anastassia Rodionova continued her fine run at the Bell Championship in Quebec with victory over Germany's Marlene Weingartner on Friday.

Rodionova, who beat number eight seed Meilen Tu in the previous round, won the quarter-final clash 7-6 6-0 to reach her first semi-final on the WTA Tour.

The 20-year-old repeated her July victory over Weingartner in Casablanca, when the German was the top seed.

Rodionova will meet compatriot Elena Bovina in the last four, after the seventh seed beat German Angelika Roesch 6-2 6-0.

Silvia Farina Elia, the tournament's top seed, was made to work for her place in the semi-finals in a tense contest against American Alexandra Stevenson.

The Italian was taken to three sets in a topsy-turvy game, before winning 6-2 3-6 6-1.

She will now meet Switzerland's Marie-Gaianeh Mikaelian, who became the first player into the final four after beating third seed Magdalena Maleeva on Thursday in the $170,000 tournament.

Friday's quarter-final results from the Bell Challenge:

  • Anastassia Rodionova (Rus) bt Marlene Weingartner (Ger) 7-6 6-0
  • (7) Elena Bovina (Rus) bt Angelika Roesch (Ger) 6-2 6-0
