Will Salford bounce back?
Salford coach Karl Harrison
Salford are relegated from Super League, while Castleford snatch the final play-off place in a thrilling climax to the regular season.

Will the Reds bounce back? And who will triumph in the play-offs?

Wakefield's crushing victory over Warrington, coupled with Salford's defeat to Castleford, condemned the Reds to the Northern Ford Premiership.

In sending Salford down, the Tigers snatched the sixth and final play-off spot at the expense of London Broncos, who lost 16-18 to St Helens.

That victory meant the Saints won the minor premiership, with Bradford, Wigan, Leeds and Hull the other sides to reach the play-offs.

Will Salford make a quick return to the top flight? And who is heading for Super League glory?

I truly believe Salford will bounce back under the management of Karl Harrison
Darren Dundas, Harrogate

Commiserations to Salford, as a Fartown fan I know how it hurts to get relegated, but more so for everyone to want you to go down. Hopefully Salford will qualify for the parachute payments for their academy etc, and then hopefully some of the backbiters will get off Huddersfield's back as Salford will have received it also.

They will not be allowed to spend it on players, the players now have to shoulder blame like Fartown's squad did, and put pen to paper and get them back up.

It's now that you will really see the character of those Salford players, are they rats jumping a sinking ship? Or are they going to stand up and try and do their fans justice?
Danny, England

As a Castleford supporter I can admit to mixed feelings following Sunday's results. Firstly, joy at Castleford reaching the top six play-offs (following a poor start). But secondly, one of injustice for Salford (following Warrington's poor showing against Wakefield).

I truly believe Salford will bounce back under the management of Karl Harrison and wish their loyal fans the very best of luck for next year.
Darren Dundas, Harrogate, England

I have to say I feel really sorry for the Salford fans and supporters, I felt ashamed to be a Warrington fan on Sunday. We just didn't look interested and I was appalled at the way we gave the game to Wakefield.

Salford certainly have me on their list of newly-recruited supporters with their gutsy performances
Mark Kirkham, UK

It really is an injustice that the least spirited and committed team in Super League (Warrington) did not go down. I'm sure if it was the other way around, Salford would have tried to beat Wakefield. Good luck for next year, Salford.
Ian Fellows, Warrington, England

Parachute payments to those teams relegated! Foul...why shouldn't these teams compete on a level playing field with other clubs in the NFP who get NOTHING.

NFP...not all teams play each other twice? Super League...some teams play each other three times?? Solution: promote more NFP teams to increase the Super League and reduce the NFP. Then everyone can play each other twice...or will this mean sharing the Murdoch Money around further - can't have that can we?
Stephen Wells, UK

Over the last couple of weeks, Salford have played their hearts out. If only that had been repeated throughout the season. They certainly have me on their list of newly-recruited supporters with their gutsy performances. Keep it up boys, and you'll be back in the big league next time!
Mark Kirkham, UK

As a Wakefield fan I am pleased to see them stay up. I also feel sorry for Salford and their supporters. I can only hope that one of the big clubs has a bad season, gets relegated and then see whether 14 clubs in Super League becomes a reality.
Dave, England

Good move by Salford's chairman to keep Salford a professional team
Carl, England

I have been a Salford fan for more than 40 years now and have seen many ups and downs at the club. I have no doubt that they will be back. It has always been a friendly club and a good place to go to watch rugby league.

Despite having had a few lean years they have kept a good loyal fan base and deserve some success. I wish them all the best. I must add that if there is any justice in this world their place in Super League will go to Huddersfield.
Jack Mayers, England

An injury-free Saints are 10-12 points better than any other team in the competition. I expect them to meet the Bulls in the final and make it four championships from seven in the SL era.
Graham, England

I have to admit to feeling disappointment tempered with relief that my team, the Vikings, missed out on a play-off place. The fixture format will be much kinder to us next year through not making the top six.

As for Salford, well the Giants have shown this season that a parachute payment and a full-time squad makes all the difference, so they are bound to bounce back. To avoid the yo-yo scenario, maybe we should bite the bullet and invite Salford, Leigh and Hudds to join next year's competition?
Michael Batey, Sheffield, UK

Good move by Salford's chairman to keep Salford a professional team for their push for Super League next season. It certainly helped Huddersfield this time round. But is it right that well established professional sides can keep bouncing up and down between leagues whilst the lower semi-professional teams find it hard not only in their push for promotion but to keep there most valuable players when they fail?
Carl, England

I sense a Wigan revival next season
Scott, England

Ian Fellows, Warrington, England

Salford have played some excellent rugby in the past few weeks, and had the same effort been shown in most of the other matches then they would not be going down. Congratulations to my club Castleford on reaching the top six.
David, England

They will meet some tough competition in getting back up but I believe they can do it! Convincingly or not would be another question!
DL, Essex

Congratulations to Saints on finishing top of the pile. Just to show the pie eaters that they are still the dominant team of the Super League era. Come on!
Alan, England

It's been a fantastic season and a shame it has to come an end. Bradford for the title this season, but I sense a Wigan revival next season. I think Salford will stay, but it will be a shame to see Wakefield go down.
Scott, England
