A new dawn for Windies?
The Windies' fans have plenty to cheer after their team's victory over India
The West Indies beat India by 156 runs to beat India 2-1 in the five-match Test series.

Congratulate Carl Hooper's men.

HAVE YOUR SAY

After India took a 1-0 lead in the series things had looked bleak for the home side.

But Hooper's men fought back and resumed on the final day of play needing just three wickets to wrap up victory.

Coastal rain threatened to disrupt the game, but when play restarted, paceman Cameron Cuffy soon trapped Ajay Ratra lbw and the end was quick to come.

It is now 16 years since India last won a series abroad and many will be questioning Sourav Ganguly's position.

What can be done to remedy India's awful away record?HAVE YOUR SAY

It's good to see the West Indies getting back to winning ways. I, like other West Indian cricket fans, am pleased to see this. However, until the WICB can entice the young talent back into the game, such victories, especially overseas, are going to be very rare.
Clifford Griffith, England

Wake up! West Indies had the home advantage and indiscipline approach from Indian bowlers helped their cause. If the Indians hosted West Indies it would have been 4-0 or 3-0 in favour of India. Chanderpaul and Hooper have their best records against India. They love Indian bowling.
Uthaman, USA

One of the biggest reasons for India's poor "away" record is their mental weakness, their inability to remain mentally strong when the pressure is high. They should look for a captain with a more aggressive attitude.
Farrukh, USA

Congratulations to the Windies squad who worked as team to win the series. Our beloved Indian team once again has made good its 'unable to win abroad' billing! India's loss abroad cannot be attributed to one person or the Indian captain for that matter.

The truth is that the matches have been lost through the indifference of different players at different times. The Indian team desperately needs a travelling psychotherapist or one those professionals who are able influence the team members thinking and to make them focus on winning.
Henrico Corda, Uganda

India are a good side on paper, but when it comes to the games they lack the zeal to win matches
Ravi, India
The current West Indies Team is the weakest team ever and India missed a golden opportunity to win overseas. The real problems were the failure of the opening batsmen, also the top 4-batsmen never collectively scored a lot of runs. It was always a one-man show and that has been the problem with Indian cricket for years.
Renga, USA

India need a few things to win an away series: 1.Heart - which they don't show except for in India where the conditions suit them against teams outside of the sub continent. 2. Batsman not scared of bouncy pitches or fast bowlers. 3. Quick bowlers - India doesn't have one genuine fast bowler. 4. Leadership - India hasn't had a good captain in at least a generation. 5. Hope and prayer - India have little or no chance of breaking their duck away from home. 16 years without a win says it all.
Rehan, UK

India are a good side on paper, but when it comes to the games they lack the zeal to win matches. I sincerely feel that Anil Kumble should be appointed as captain as he is more aggressive than Saurav, Saurav can concentrate on batting.

India need to have good openers, there are many guys who can bat and open the innings, if the selectors properly look around the league they can find tons of openers with potential. Openers killed India in this series. I feel India do not have any chance for the World Cup and they should not compete.
Ravi, India

Ganguly needs to be sacked as captain and also from the team as he had the series in the bag, but he has always let the team and country and supporters down with bad captaincy.
Mukesh, UK

With the right attitude, this West Indies side is capable of winning anywhere in the world
Anka Sarkar, Los Angeles, USA
They need some fine bowlers, especially some good fast bowlers and that they can achieve by having some green pitches in their country.
Akram, Pakistan

India are no good overseas, beaten by a poor West Indies team, they have no bottle and its time for Ganguly to go as captain.
Israr, England

It would be wrong for us to compare the current Windies team with any of the past teams. However, this team is on the verge of regaining the old glory again. With the right attitude, this West Indies is capable of winning anywhere in the world. It might take a few more years before we will see an awesome West Indies Team. Nevertheless, they are headed to the right direction.
Anka Sarkar, Los Angeles, USA

Maybe West Indies cricket has turned the corner. It was a faulous win, especially with young guys coming good. Now the only thing they require to be the best is a very fast bowler who can blow batsmen away.
Srijan, Nepal

This has been one of the best series that the Windies have played in for some time
Andre Jones, England
Congratulations to the West Indian Team. Carl and Boys played a great series at home and came out on top. Now they must go on from here. They have to go back to the quick bowlers, like Carl did in this series.
Ganesh Ramnarine, USA

This has been one of the best series that the Windies have played in for some time. Throughout all the series they have batted, fielded and bowled better than the oppposition. The team's decent scores in the first innings gave the bowlers something to work with. They should not become complacent and keep working hard for the future.
Andre Jones, England

Congratulations to Hooper and co. for the emphatic victory. The winning spirit should go on now and Chanderpaul and Hooper were unstoppable. I hope they win the one day series too.
Paras Pokhrel, Nepal

Congratulations to the West Indies - in the end they were simply the better side. Excellent series performances from Hooper, Chanderpaul and Dillon supported by Sarwan, Jacobs and Cuffy led the way . As long as the Windies ensure that their youth system is fully in place then more younger players like Sandford will come through.
Rob, Belgium

It's been a wonderful performance but by the Windies, just hope that they can keep it up.
Deepesh Singh,, Nepal

The Windies desparetly need at least two tear-a-away fast bowlers and players who are physically and mentally tough
Latarie, Barbados
I think West Indies deserve to win the series after being humiliated in other series. I give all the credit to Hooper and his men.
Joseph Rao, India

As a Jamaican and as a West Indian, I am proud of the series victory over India. Hard luck to them but I think that we worked hard for the win and it has paid off. Nothing succeeds like success they say, so now it's on to the Kiwis and beyond and I hope this marks the start of a winning streak.
Norman Munroe, Jamaica

I'm not ready to go overboard yet. The windies desparetly need at least two tear-a-away fast bowlers and players who are physically and mentally tough,in the mold of a Sir Vivian Richards. In the meantime its celebration time!
Latarie, Barbados

I think our team is a good combination and I think the selectors should keep these guys together for a while.
Ruthene, Barbados

Every member of the team contributed to this victory
Asokan Suppiah, France
Congratulations Windies, on your fine performance.
Vad Kumar, India

The West Indies team deserve winning the series. They have shown that they are improving, however there is still a lot of work to be done in the WI team.
Shameer, USA-Guyanese

Having learned to love the game of cricket while watching the great West Indies sides of the late 1970s and 1980s, it has been painful to see their performances in recent years. At its best, West Indian cricket is the most exciting in the world. Hopefully, therefore, we are seeing them develop, once again, into a competitive team.
Nigel J. Taylor, USA

Kudos to the Windies on their series win agaist India. Under the inspired captaincy of Carl Hooper they performed as a unit after a long time in a test series. Every member of the team contributed to this victory.
Asokan Suppiah, France

The West Indies have taken a huge step forward in this series
Luc, Belgium
The current West Indian team played out of their skins and completley deserved to win. This win is only the beginning and this team needs to continue to carry the momentum if they are to keep getting better.
Francis Sales, Canada

Carl Hooper and his men have indeed done a wonderful job. I cannot be any happier for them. They were never the favourites at any stage against the much-hyped Indians, but believed in themselves to put up a great show.
Govind Balasubramaniam, USA

The West Indies have taken a huge step forward in this series in creating a strong and powerful new cricket team. The most important thing now is that they keep the nucleus of this team together.
Luc, Belgium
