Steven Naismith doubt for Scotland squad

Rangers forward Steven Naismith is a major doubt for Scotland's friendly against the Faroe Islands on Tuesday.

And Ibrox defender Kirk Broadfoot, who is not in the Scotland squad, will see an ankle specialist next week after playing through the pain barrier.

Naismith suffered a shoulder injury in the final minutes of Rangers' 2-0 win over Aberdeen at Ibrox.

He will report to the Scotland camp on Sunday but could be the latest Rangers player out of Craig Levein's squad.

Levein included only two Rangers players - Naismith and the versatile Stephen Whittaker - in his party for the Pittodrie friendly in light of the Ibrox club's heavy schedule of domestic and European fixtures.

And, following the win over the Dons, manager Walter Smith said: "Steven Naismith got a nasty knock on his shoulder in the last minutes of the game and Kirk Broadfoot got a kick on the foot that had been causing him a problem a few weeks ago.

"The physios are looking at them and I'm not quite sure how they are. I'll have to wait and see."
