Henson picked up the injury in the Heineken Cup loss to Saracens |
Gavin Henson will miss Wales' June tour to South Africa after surgery on an ankle injury. The centre underwent keyhole surgery on damaged ankle ligaments on Wednesday and it has been decided he needs 12 weeks' rest to stabilise the joint. Henson suffered the blow in the Ospreys' Heineken Cup quarter-final defeat at Saracens on 6 April. Dwayne Peel (shoulder) is also a tour doubt, while Mike Phillips and Robin Sowden-Taylor are out injured. | 606: DEBATE |
Wales face the world champion Springboks on 7 June in Bloemfontein and 14 June in Pretoria. Henson will miss the Ospreys' remaining three Magners League games, against Edinburgh, Newport Gwent Dragons and Connacht, in which they still hope to finish top of the table's Welsh contingent.
