Rees will continue to lead the Wales Sevens side |
The Welsh Rugby Union will fund a Wales Sevens side to compete in six of the eight World Series events in 2006/7. Coach Dai Rees' team will play in Dubai, South Africa, Hong Kong, Australia, London and Scotland.
The news follows a successful return to the sevens circuit for the men in red last season after three years absence due to Union cost-cutting measures.
They entered five tournaments and won the Plate four times, including in Hong Kong and the Commonwealth Games.
That helped take Wales to 11th place in the world rankings.

Sevens experience was also credited with helping the development of rising stars like James Hook.
"Now we've got the academies in place I think this is the right time to get back on to the sevens circuit," Wales Sevens coach Dai Rees told the Wales on Sunday.
"It generates massive interest among all the other major rugby nations and the likes of New Zealand, England, and South Africa use it as a vital development tool."
