Madden made an acrimonious Stradey exit in 2003 |
Former Wales prop Martyn Madden has signed for Llanelli RFC, and if he proves himself he will be in contention for a Scarlets regional place. The 31-year-old had an acrimonious split with the club in October 2003.
He has since had unproductive spells with Cardiff and Caerphilly and will need to prove his fitness and desire.
But Madden is explosive at his best and able to play both sides of the scrum, with the Scarlets desperate to find strength-in-depth at tight-head.
Thirty-six-year-old John Davies is the only established number three at Stradey.
He was pressed into service in the 21-15 loss to Edinburgh, despite having been injured in a serious car accident earlier in the week.
Youngster Ricky Davies is currently out of action with a shoulder injury.
