Llanelli Scarlets plan to recruit a tight-head prop before next week's Celtic League opener with Edinburgh. A shoulder injury to Ricky Davies in the friendly defeat to Worcester left veteran John Davies, 36, as the only specialist number three at Stradey.
"We need a tight-head without doubt, it's as simple as that," Scarlets director of rugby Gareth Jenkins told the South Wales Evening Post.
"But I don't think there is a rush. We must make sure we get the right guy."
The Scarlets play a combined side from their feeder clubs Llanelli, Carmarthen Quins, Llandovery and Narberth at Llandovery's Church Bank on Wednesday (1915 BST).
They complete their pre-season fixture list against an Army representative side at Chepstow RFC on Saturday (1300 BST).
