Paterson was placed on a drip to treat his foot infection |
Scotland's record points scorer Chris Paterson has returned to training with his team-mates at St Andrews after recovering from a foot infection. The 31-year-old Edinburgh full-back missed his side's Magners League defeat by Newport Gwent Dragons on Sunday despite undergoing hospital treatment. But, after assessment by Scotland staff, Paterson was passed fit for the last day of the three-day session. Edinburgh's Ben Cairns did not train because of an ongoing knee injury. Cairns continues to receive treatment for the problem which forced the centre to leave the pitch after 31 minutes of the match against the Dragons. Gloucester's Alasdair Dickinson has returned to his club as he remains affected by a shoulder injury, and as been ruled out of all three Murrayfield Autumn Tests against Fiji, Australia and New Zealand. Max Evans, who trained as part of his rehabilitation after a knee injury, will also miss the series as he requires a minor operation on his other knee. He should return to action for Glasgow Warriors either against Ulster or Gloucester in December. Johnnie Beattie is another player to sit out Wednesday's final training camp session. However, the Glasgow number eight's absence was a precautionary measure as he was being troubled by a groin complaint.
