White out to restore Scots pride
Scotland captain Jason White
White wants to see a big improvement from Scotland
Scotland captain Jason White is determined to put the misery of defeat to France behind him and regain some pride against Wales on Saturday.

"We had a bad day last weekend and we need to get back on track," he told BBC Sport. "We need to move on quickly.

"We are all proud to play for Scotland and there is a great desire to show that this is a strong squad.

"We need to believe in each other and build on all the good work we did at the World Cup."

Scotland have made just two changes to the side that lost 27-6 to the French at Murrayfield.

Chris Paterson is recalled at full-back to replace the injured Rory Lamont, while Kelly Brown takes over the number eight shirt from David Callam.

"We have two guys coming in and I'm sure Chris will add something and Kelly Brown looks in good form, so they'll provide new impetus," added White.

"The rest of us have the chance to show the fans we're better than we were against France."

Wales caused an upset on the opening weekend of the Six Nations, coming from 19-6 behind to beat England at Twickenham.

"Wales will be full of confidence after an outstanding result," said White.

"England were massively dominant in first half but they kept in hunt and worked hard for each other and that's the sign of a good team.

"The rush defence that they've deployed now with Shaun Edwards coming in can cause certain difficulties but I think we have the guys that can go through it.

"We need to be stronger at set-pieces and stronger at the breakdown.

"We know we have to get the basics right.

"And we will have to defend hard because they'll be moving the ball around and having a real go at us."

Paterson, who was surprisingly relegated to the bench last week, will make his 83rd appearance for Scotland, making him the most capped Scottish back of all time.

"It's something that's a nice achievement, but it's just a number really," he said. "It's really about performing on Saturday and getting a result.

"There will be huge anticipation for Wales to play well and perform - from themselves and the fans. So, we'll have to frustrate that.

"The pressure is on them. We're underdogs, which we like."

Paterson needs only 11 more points to surpass Gavin Hastings' record as Scotland's leading points score in the history of the championship.
