Worcester Warriors will be stronger, says Mike Ruddock

Worcester Warriors director of rugby Mike Ruddock is confident his squad will be stronger next season.

Ruddock has revealed that he is already targeting players to bring to Sixways in the summer.

But he told BBC Hereford and Worcester that the club would be careful to stay within the salary cap.

"I am confident with the players we are talking about at the moment, and the plans we have for next year, we will be even stronger as a squad," he said.

Worcester produced an encouraging performance against Saracens on Saturday, only to eventually go down 25-20, leaving them second-from-bottom of the Premiership.

And Ruddock knows they must secure their top-flight status before he puts his plans into overdrive.

"What we have to make sure we do is nail down our spot in this league," he said.

"If we keep producing performances like we did at Saracens that will put us there or thereabouts with the top teams in the league.

"We are playing by the (salary cap) rules, there is no doubt about that.

"We make sure we operate to the letter of the law at all times, and we still have a lot of talent in our squad."
