Chris Latham to leave Worcester Warriors this summer

Latham has played 34 games for Worcester

Worcester Warriors full-back Chris Latham has said he will leave Sixways at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old took the unusual step of letting the club's supporters know with a posting on a fans forum on the club website.

"Not having a family support unit around us, we feel it would be in our best interest to return home to Australia," Latham told the forum.

Latham joined the Warriors in 2008 and has played 34 games for the side.

In his debut season, he played 20 games and scored 42 points, making him a regular in Mike Ruddock's side for the next two seasons.

The supporters have been nothing but fantastic to me

Latham has praised the support he has had from the fans since he arrived at Sixways.

"From the first game I had in the Worcester shirt against Ulster, I was blown away with the support you guys give at home and more impressively away," he said.

"This to me was no truer then last week at Gloucester.

"I was once again overwhelmed by the support we received, this and the fact that you the supporters have been nothing but fantastic to me."

He has played in 78 internationals for Australia and currently stands as the second highest try scorer in Wallaby history.

Latham has said he has not made any decision about retiring from playing or going into a coaching role.

"As far as playing in Japan goes nothing has been finalised," he said.

Meanwhile one of Worcester's young stars is set to extend his stay at Sixways.

Scrum-half Jonny Arr who scored his first Premiership try at Gloucester on Saturday, is set to sign for another two years.

Second row Greg Rawlinson is also expected to put pen to paper on a new one-year contract as his current deal runs out at the end of the season.
