Arr's pass from the base of the scrum fell straight into Qera's arms |
Worcester Warriors director of rugby Mike Ruddock is backing scrum-half Johnny Arr after his error gifted Gloucester a try at Kingsholm. Ruddock considered taking the 21-year-old off after he passed the ball to Akapusi Qera who went on to score. "I thought do I need to change him ?" Ruddock told BBC Hereford & Worcester. "Johnny also had a kick charged down after giving away the try. But he was fantastic after that, he scored a try and made another." Arr has played over 30 first-team games for Warriors but the 13-13 draw at Gloucester was only his fourth ever start in the Premiership. Ruddock said he thought of bringing on the experienced Ryan Powell after Arr's mistake but he was pleased he did not make a change. "He [Arr] is still learning the game, he is still getting his experience in as a starting scrum-half. I think he came through it really well."
