Aleki Lutui joined Worcester Warriors from Super 14 side Chiefs |
Worcester Warriors' Tongan hooker Aleki Lutui has committed his future to the club by signing a new two-year deal, with the option for a third season. Director of rugby Mike Ruddock told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "Aleki is a great Warrior, a great player. "He is hugely respected in our camp and right across the Premiership." Lutui, 31, who has scored 12 tries in 94 games for the Warriors, was named in the Tonga squad for the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France. Ruddock added: "Aleki has extended his contract and will be staying with us for at least two years with an option for that to be even longer with a third year. "He is such a catalyst for our game, when he goes forward it gives everyone a lift and it's great he is now on board for a few more years. | I am happy here and really enjoy my rugby in Worcester Warriors hooker Aleki Lutui |
"I don't think anyone connected with the Warriors will forget that tackle against Saracens a few years ago when he nailed a player in that must-win game and gave everyone a lift. "He can have that kind of impact and we look forward to seeing him in action over the coming seasons." Former policeman Lutui says he is more than happy to stay at Sixways. "I am happy here and really enjoy my rugby in Worcester," he said. "My family is settled in Worcester, which is very important to me. "I have good friends at the club and all I want to do now it to help get the team up the Guinness Premiership table and become even better."
