Worcester Warriors have signed England Sevens player Chris Cracknell until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old flanker has previously played at Bath, Exeter Chiefs, Cornish Pirates, Newbury and Harlequins.

Warriors director of rugby Mike Ruddock says he needed a new man in to solve a shortage in his back row.

"I have taken these steps to cover the injury to Netani Talei who will be out until towards the end of the season after shoulder reconstruction."

Cracknell, who is a former England under-21 international, left Bath after the arrival of former Springbok Luke Watson at the Rec in November.

He told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "I spoke to [England Sevens team-mate and Worcester back row] Jake Abbott about the club and had nothing but really positive things to say about Warriors, from the local area to the coaching staff and ambition at Sixways.

"I've played against Worcester a couple of times and already know some of the squad.

"I was with Pat Sanderson and Matt Powell at Harlequins, spent some playing time with Dale Rasmussen and know Will Bowley from junior England levels."

Ruddock added: "Chris has signed a contract that will allow him to be part of our squad and feature for us until the end of this season.

"He is a very well respected English qualified back row forward of immense potential.

"Chris has also featured heavily for England Sevens and is quite obviously a very talented prospect.

"We look forward to seeing him the Warriors colours before too long."
