Worcester Warriors director of rugby Mike Ruddock defended his team after the 23-3 defeat by new leaders Wasps.
Serge Betson and Tom Varndell scored Wasps' tries, with Worcester's reply a Willie Walker penalty.
And Ruddock told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "I am not going to criticise my players because we showed a lot of pride and character.
"If we can come away from home and defend like we did then we are going to be in more games than not."
"Our accuracy was not great, we had to wait 24 minute for our first attacking line out and we overthrew that," he said.
"Those little things let us down.
"What we have learned over the last couple of years is that if you are going to challenge for a higher place in the table you have to be difficult to break down in defence.
"I think the second try was ether going to be a try for us or for them, and the luck was with them.
"It put a bit of gloss on the scoreboard, the score eventually flattered them a bit.
"They broke us once in the first half, other than that I thought our defence was outstanding."
