Grove qualifies for Scotland through his Glasgow-born grandfather |
Worcester Warriors youngsters Graham Kitchener and Alex Grove were both in international action at the weekend, with contrasting fortunes. Kitchener was included in the England Under-20 side that was beaten in the IRB World Championship. He started as England went down 44-28 by New Zealand in Japan. Meanhwile, Grove was part of the Scotland A side that defeated France A to lift the IRB Nations Cup in Bucharest, Romania. Grove, who was a surprise selection, impressed the Scotland coach Andy Robinson. "When we get back, the players return to their clubs, with the first Scotland game not until November, against Fiji," said Robinson. "But I will have a behind-the-scenes philosophy of what I believe the standards are for international rugby." England Under-20 coach Mark Mapletoft said: "We were beaten by a better team. "Overall it was closer than last year and we've certainly made strides in some aspects. "To score 28 points was obviously a positive but it was equally disappointing to concede seven tries."
