Warriors hooker Fortey avoids ban

Worcester Warriors hooker Chris Fortey escaped a ban after he was cleared of a dangerous play charge at an RFU disciplinary hearing.

Fortey was summoned for a tackle on Harlequins Will Skinner during the Guinness Premiership match on 1 April.

The hearing panel judged the yellow card he received was sufficient punishment.

"The panel deemed that the tackle was high, but was unintentional," Warriors director of rugby Mike Ruddock said.

"It was more clumsy in nature and the panel felt the award of a yellow card was sufficient.

"Chris apologised for his actions at the time and also to the disciplinary panel.

"They accepted his apology and also accepted the fact that there was no intent on his part to injure his opponent," Ruddock added.

"This means he is free to continue playing and, as such, can now be considered for Saturday's quarter-final with Brive in the European Challenge Cup."
