Ruddock hails Warriors supporters

Worcester director of rugby Mike Ruddock has praised the Warriors supporters after the 14-10 victory over Gloucester at Sixways on Sunday.

After the Premiership win, the former Wales supremo said: "The big crowd got behind us, it was fantastic.

"We realise at times we have let our crowd down, but they got right behind us and helped us across the line.

"We talked about the game, and the need for emotion and passion to go with a good game plan."

He added: "The emotion and the passion was there from the players but also from the fans, and as a collective we delivered."

Ruddock picked out number eight Kai Hostmann as man of the match.

"He was fantastic, he is playing some great rugby and certainly worthy of the England Saxons," he said.

"He's been our most consistent performer certainly since December, his intelligence and his work rate and his energy are quite phenomenal."

Ruddock was also in praise of his ex-Gloucester men.

Marcel Garvey scored Warriors' try, and Willie Walker kicked three penalties but there was also praise for hooker Chris Fortey.

"He was outstanding, fronted up in the scrums and lines-outs and he loved the pick-and-go game - that was like music to his ears.

"After last week, the boys were low on confidence.

"We wanted to go back to basics and do the simple things well, some were out of the coaching manual and some weren't."

Meanwhile, Warriors number eight Matt Kvesic scored a try in England Under-18's 50-14 win over Japan High Schools at Plymouth.

Three of his Worcester team-mates won caps as second-half replacements.

Props Chris Fox and Louis Padian and scrum-half Joel Dudley got the chance to impress the national selectors.
