Worcester's on-loan fly-half Willie Walker kicked three penalties to stop his parent club from returning to the top of the table.

The Cherry and Whites dominated but it was their former winger, Marcel Garvey, who danced his way through the forwards to open the scoring for Worcester.

But the home side were penalised at three consecutive five-metre scrums and Gloucester were awarded a penalty try.

Walker added nine points while the home defence kept the second-half scoreless.

The only disappointment for the home side was a season-ending injury to full-back Chris Latham.

The former Australian international fractured his shoulder blade while making a try-saving tackle on Luke Narraway.

Worcester director of rugby Mike Ruddock:
"It's not good news on Chris - the medical report tells me that he has a dislocation and a fracture around the shoulder.

"His season effectively is over. He will be back next season, there is no doubt about that, and we wish him a speedy recovery.

"We took a bit of a gamble this week and gave the guys a bit more time out. We only trained on Friday and Saturday to try to freshen them up.

"In fact we had a barbecue and bit of a get-together on Monday afternoon so I might have to make it a regular thing.

"We didn't leave it on the training pitch we transferred it onto the park."

Gloucester director of rugby Dean Ryan:
"We just butchered opportunity after opportunity and we allowed a courageous defensive side to stay in the match.

"We had three or four opportunities where if we had simple passes it would have been a completely different game.

"I don't think there is a huge amount wrong but we have to take our chances."
