Benjamin happy not to be watching

Miles Benjamin
Miles Benjamin was top try scorer for Worcester Warriors last season.

Worcester Warriors wing Miles Benjamin is delighted to be back playing again, as he hates watching.

Benjamin, who broke his leg in early December, made his comeback last weekend as a replacement.

And he admitted: "If we are winning you think they don't need you at all. But if they are losing you think it would be nice to be out there helping.

"I analyse it too much. If I watch rugby league or football I just sit back and enjoy it."

After coming on for the last 10 minutes at Welford Road in last Saturday's 38-5 defeat by Leicester Tigers, Benjamin revealed that he had beaten his own deadline to get back into the side.

I don't get nervous but I was maybe a little apprehensive to see how the leg would stand up at Leicester.

"I've trained really hard the last 11 weeks," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "It was nice to be able to get back a week early, especially when you are getting in at seven in the morning.

"I didn't want to put on too much muscle as I want to get up and down the pitch.

"But the physios always find things for you to do, riding a bike with one leg or boxing, anything really.

"I don't get nervous but I was maybe a little apprehensive to see how the leg would stand up at Leicester.

"But it was fine, and I was happy to get on, and be back with boys."

The former England Under-20 star says he knew exactly what had happened when he was injured in the first half of the European Challenge Cup tie in France.

"I knew what I had done as I broke the fibula on my other leg two years ago, so I told the physio to just get me off."

Worcester Warriors take on Wasps in the Guinness Premiership this Saturday (28 February, 1500 GMT). There will be full commentary on BBC Hereford and Worcester on 104 fm and on line at bbc.co.uk/herefordandworcester.
