Davies hopeful of England revival

Davies has scored two one-day hundreds for Worcestershire

Worcestershire wicketkeeper Steve Davies insists both he and the England squad are more determined than ever to end their run without a win.

England go into Friday's opening one-day match against the West Indies without a win in their last 13 international matches.

Davies opened and top scored with 27 for England on his debut in Sunday's Twenty20 defeat in Trinidad.

"There have been some harsh words and we thrashed things out," he said.

"We've learnt from Sunday and we're going to take that into the 50 overs game.

"The boys are hurting at the moment, it's not nice losing, but all I can say is that we will be doing something about that.

I feel it's the best time to bat as I can use the pace of the bowlers.

"The nets have been going well and I think it's just a matter of time before things turn around."

Davies says he enjoyed opening, scoring his 27 off just 21 balls.

"A lot of wicketkeepers have tried to open the batting (for England) but I've done it for Worcestershire for a couple of years so I'm comfortable doing it," he said.

"I feel it's the best time to bat as I can use the pace of the bowlers.

"I didn't have much success for Worcester at seven or eight but when Vikram Solanki went off to the World Twenty20, it gave me the opportunity to open and I haven't looked back."
