Rob Dewey runs in for his try against Italy at Murrayfield |
Scotland centre Rob Dewey has completed his move from Edinburgh to Ulster in a two-year deal. The 23-year-old Dewey is the second Scottish international to link up with Ulster following wing Simon Danielli's decision earlier this week.
Dewey scored tries for the Scots in their RBS Six Nations defeats by England and Italy.
Ulster have also signed prop Jarleth Carey from Rotherham Titans on a two-year contract.
Dewey's departure at the end of the season will be seen as a big blow to Edinburgh and to Scotland.
"We were looking for a big, powerful midfield player and Rob fits the bill perfectly," said Ulster CEO Mike Reid.
The English-born Dewey made his RBS Six Nations debut in Calcutta Cup clash with England earlier this month.
At 6ft 3in and over 17 stone, he is rated as one of the finds of the current Six Nations campaign.
He has represented Scotland at U18, U19 and U21 levels as well as playing sevens for his country.
Dewey made his senior international debut against Romania in November, but was injured in the game and required knee surgery.
He formerly played for Herriot's and was the Division One joint top try-scorer for the 2004-2005 season with 15 touchdowns.
He joined Edinburgh on a professional contract in the summer of 2005 and scored eight tries from just 11 games.
However, because of his powerful running style, he suffered two dislocated shoulders which prevented him from making his international debut until last autumn.
