Schwalger leaves Edgeley Park after just one season

Hooker Mahonri Schwalger has left Sale Sharks to join New Zealand side Taranaki, the club has confirmed.

The 31-year-old Samoa international joined Sale at the start of last season from the Scarlets.

Schwalger has played for Samoa in two World Cups and has also represented the Pacific Islanders team.

Sharks' chief executive Mick Hogan said: "I would like to thank Mahonri for the time he spent with us and wish him all the best with his new club."
