Schofield has been playing for Sharks for eight years

Sale Sharks have named Dean Schofield as their captain for next season.

The 30-year-old replaces Argentine Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe, who is leaving the Premiership club for French side Toulon this summer.

Second-row forward Schofield made his debut for Sale in 2001 and will have winger Mark Cueto and fly-half Charlie Hodgson as his vice captains.

Hodgson was voted the player of the year at the club's end-of-season awards on Thursday.
