Clayton signs Man City contract

Manchester City midfielder Adam Clayton has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

The 20-year-old, a graduate of City's youth academy, has yet to play for the first team.

He has twice been named on the substitute's bench and has been with City since the age of seven.

"I've gone from being a kid to making a career for myself, now I have to produce the goods," said Clayton. "If you put the work in, you get rewarded."

Clayton added on City's website: "From playing with your mates at school to training with Robinho it cannot get any better. It's a dream come true, and especially for a City fan like me.

"It's such a great experience playing against and training with these kinds of players.

"Someone like Didi Hamann is great to learn from in my position - he's been in World Cup and Champions League finals and you cannot beat that kind of experience."
