Sale attitude disappoints Jones

Sale coach Kingsley Jones

Sale coach Kingsley Jones has said his players' approach was the reason for their defeat by Newcastle on Sunday.

Despite leading 16-11 at half-time Sale were defeated 32-25, their sixth loss this season.

Jones told BBC Radio Manchester: "We spoke at half-time about respecting the game and about the basics.

"We haven't respected them enough and that is not good enough. If you are five percent less keen than the opposition at this level, you lose."

He added: "We've got good props, even if we were missing a couple away on international duty.

"To concede a try at the end to lose the game - from being pushed off our own ball at the scrum - is hard to take, to be honest with you."
