The ecstatic Ospreys celebrate their EDF Energy Cup final win

Ospreys Elite Performance Director Andrew Hore says the 23-6 EDF Energy Cup final win over Leicester will have no bearing on his review of the region.

"One-off wins are not how we measure things, that's not what we're about," Hore told BBC Sport Wales.

"We're assessing the whole region and individuals in it, and we're doing it in a measured and calculated way."

The Ospreys' big-spending management brought in Kiwi Hore in the middle of the season to oversee the region.

It has been speculated that coach Lyn Jones' position will be under question after last week's surprise Heineken Cup quarter-final defeat at Saracens and a poor Magners League campaign.

But Hore previously stated that current staff should not feel under threat and that he intends to build on positions which are already in place, and his comments after the Twickenham victory warn against a simplistic interpretation.

"We have a lot of work to do in the high-performance area and I won't pre-empt the review," said the former Wales fitness coach, who left an elite performance role with the New Zealand Rugby Union to join the Ospreys.

"We have to let people be themselves, then see what we can do to help them to become great.

"The group did superbly to turn things around after Saracens, they showed how special they are.

"Silverware is always nice, it's fantastic for the region as a whole. It grows confidence and belief.

"As a nation Wales is too hard on itself when facing English teams. We have to realise that we are a rugby nation and they are not.

"Now we have to build from this, take the opportunities presented to us next year and build our true identity in world rugby."

Ospreys scrum-half Justin Marshall does feel that the Twickenham win can spur the west Glamorgan region on to the next level.

"It was a really tough week after Saracens, but we learnt from adversity," the former All Black told BBC Sport Wales.

"If you didn't pick up on those lessons you wouldn't be able to prepare to win the big silverware.

"We learnt from last year's EDF final loss to Leicester and we've learnt from the Saracens defeat last week.

"I hate talking about next year so early in the season, but hopefully we can now take things forward for 2008/9."
