Northampton lock Courtney Lawes says England will build on their win in Australia in the autumn internationals.

Martin Johnson's side defeated the Wallabies 21-20 in June to secure a series draw down under and face New Zealand at Twickenham on 6 November.

Lawes told BBC Look East: "The win against Australia gave us confidence.

"New Zealand are very good and physical, but we're a good team as well. We can match them up front and surprise a few people."

After facing the All Blacks, England take on Australia, Samoa and world champions South Africa.

Lawes will be looking to add to add his four caps after making his first international start in England's victory in Sydney.

"International rugby isn't too different (from the Heineken Cup the Premiership rugby)," said the 21-year-old.

"But the players are all quality and there are no weak links in the sides. There's a lot more pressure on you, because a lot more people are watching, but I like to test myself to see how far I can go."
