Saints boss Jim Mallinder praises unheralded forwards
Mallinder is himself a former full-back for Sale Sharks
Northampton Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder says his forwards deserve some credit for the club's recent form.
Winger Chris Ashton has scored seven tries in his last three matches, while Ben Foden has also impressed.
But Mallinder told BBC Radio Northampton: "It all starts up front. There's been a good work-rate from all of those players.
"They create opportunities. The wingers and full-backs know the hard work the forwards go through."
The Saints are currently the second-highest points scorers in the Guinness Premiership but Mallinder says they have also maintained a tough defence.
"Our front row have been good. Euan Murray has come back, but Soane Tonga'uiha has done well and Dylan Hartley's work-rate is excellent," Mallinder said.
"The second row worked hard last week [against Treviso], and there's been a good work-rate from Phil Dowson, Neil Best and Roger Wilson.
"They don't get loads of credit but it's all about the team."
