Mujati joined Saints from South African side Stormers in May

Northampton prop Brian Mujati has been given a six-week ban for pushing referee Nigel Owens in his side's Heineken Cup defeat to Perpignan.

Mujati, 25, could have faced a six- month ban, but Rod McKenzie, the independent judicial officer decided there were "mitigating circumstances."

The South African was suffering from concussion when the offence took place.

Mujati will be out until 2 December, missing the Guinness Premiership games against Harlequins and Newcastle.

The Saints player was cited after the Heineken Cup match on 16 October ended, having come on as a replacement for Gonzalez Bonorino.

Mujati had earlier scored in Northampton's 29-13 defeat to the French side.
