Myler played rugby league for Widnes and Salford before joining Saints |
Northampton fly-half Stephen Myler has signed a new contract keeping him at Franklin's Gardens until at least 2011. The 24-year-old former rugby league man joined Saints in 2006 and this season has taken over from New Zealander Carlos Spencer at number 10. "We're delighted with Stephen's progress," coach Jim Mallinder told BBC Radio Northampton. "He's not been playing union for a massive time. He's working hard at his game and it's good to have him here." After playing 30 times during the Saints' promotion campaign last season, Myler has been a first-team regular in 2008/09. "I certainly feel comfortable now with rugby union," said Myler. "It's my game now and hopefully that will show in my performances. "Our focus is on improving as individuals and as a team. There is a lot of talent at Northampton and if we can keep the nucleus of the squad together we can build a successful team."
