Mallinder believes the Currie Cup gives young players a good grounding |
Northampton Saints have signed South African forwards Juandre Kruger and Regardt Dreyer. Kruger, 23, a 6ft 6ins lock who can also play in the back row, has joined from the Blue Bulls and previously played for Western Province. Dreyer, 25, is a 6ft 3ins loose-head prop who played for South Africa's Under-19s. He has signed from Griquas. Both players will join the Premiership side when their Currie Cup commitments are over back in South Africa. Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder said: "They will add to our strength-in-depth in two crucial positions. "The Currie Cup is an excellent proving ground for forwards. "It is a tough competition in which Juandre and Regardt have shown themselves to be two promising young players. "I'm looking forward to welcoming Juandre and Regardt to Franklin's Gardens in the next few weeks."
