Aled Brew has been in good form for the Dragons this season |
Dragons centre Rhodri Gomer-Davies says there should be more than two of their players in Wales' Six Nations squad. Luke Charteris and Dan Lydiate made Warren Gatland's 35-man party, but Gomer-Davies insists Aled Brew and Richard Fussell were unlucky. "I'm disappointed perhaps our wingers haven't had feedback about their performances," said Gomer-Davies. "Only Warren Gatland can answer [why they have not been recognised]. For me they thoroughly deserve a look in." He added: "I feel Aled Brew and Richard Fussell have been playing some consistently good rugby for us. "But perhaps they have been part of a losing side [and] Gatland perhaps didn't want them involved for that reason. "I was surprised like a lot of people that he went for a couple of young, inexperienced wingers [Tom Prydie and Kristian Phillips]. "But obviously they are very talented players and will be two to watch for the future. "I play with them [Brew and Fussell] week in, week out and they are important players for us, they are players who put us on the front foot." The Dragons head into their final Heineken Cup game of the season looking for revenge over Gloucester at Rodney Parade on Sunday, and boosted by the return of scrum-half Wayne Evans. Evans returns to full fitness after a few weeks out with a knee injury. And Gomer-Davies says Evans has been sorely missed during a critical part of the Dragon's season. "Wayne up until his injury was an integral part of this team," he said. "With Mike Phillips being injured I think without a doubt he was playing the rugby of his life and was the stand out scrum-half in Wales at the time. Injury came at the wrong time for him. | 606: DEBATE |
"It came at a bad time for us as well. We were going into the Heineken Cup matches against Biarritz. We found life very difficult without Wayne so I think it will be good to have him back." Gomer-Davies is hoping that Evans can spark revenge over Gloucester, who the Dragons went down to at Kingsholm. "We were all very disappointed after that game," he admitted. "I felt we left that one on the table. Sunday is an opportunity to show we were a better team on the day, and we will hopefully on Sunday as well. "We have worked hard over Christmas. The performances haven't been what we would have liked them to be. "But what was pleasing that we played rugby in the right areas of the field in the second half against Glasgow and we played some good stuff and hopefully we can carry on with that momentum on Sunday."
