Gloucester flanker Alasdair Strokosch takes on the Biarritz defence
Gloucester beat leaders Biarritz to go second in Heineken Cup Pool Two.
The hosts took the lead through a Nicky Robinson penalty before adding a converted try from Lesley Vainikolo.
The teams traded a penalty apiece from Valentine Courrent and Robinson before a third Robinson penalty and Tim Molenaar's converted try made it 23-3.
Imanol Harinordoquy's late try was little consolation but Biarritz still return home with an insurmountable six-point lead in the pool.
Gloucester finish their campaign with a trip across the Severn to the Newport-Gwent Dragons next Sunday while Biarritz, who are guaranteed a quarter-final place, wrap up proceedings with a home game against Glasgow.
Gloucester head coach Bryan Redpath told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:
"We were smart and kept the scoreboard ticking over and we kept our patience. I'm delighted with the win.
"The key thing was that we stuck to our guns and held them at bay. We knew that if we played in the right areas we would create chances - and we took them.
"We now know that we have to get a good performance against Newport to stand a chance of a quarter-final."
