Aled Brew is hoping to recapture the form that won him three Wales caps |
Wales back Aled Brew has joined Newport Gwent Dragons from rival Welsh region Cardiff Blues. The 22-year-old spent the 2006-07 season at the Dragons on loan from the Ospreys, but then opted for a permanent move to the Blues. Brew arrives at Rodney Parade initially on loan and then on a year's contract starting from June 2009. The Dragons have also confirmed the contract extension of back-row Lewis Evans on a two-year deal. Brew won all three of his Wales caps during his previous season with the Dragons and is hoping to recapture that form. His first-team appearances for the Blues have been restricted by the form of Tom James, Leigh Halfpenny and Richard Mustoe, while fellow wing Chris Czekaj is also returning to form and fitness. | 606: DEBATE |
"I am delighted to be rejoining the Dragons and am looking forward to challenging for a place in the starting XV," Brew said. "I had a good time and was successful with the Dragons two seasons ago and I am hoping to perform in the same way and hopefully push once again for international honours." Meanwhile, Wales scrum-half Andy Williams has joined Cardiff RFC after being released by the Dragons earlier in January. The 27-year-old, who has won five Test caps, will be available for Cardiff's Principality Premiership squad with immediate effect and could make his debut against Llandovery at the Arms Park on Saturday. Williams has previously played for Bath and Ospreys, and is eager for a fresh start. "I am really looking forward to playing some Premiership rugby with Cardiff," Williams said. "It is obviously an exciting time at the club and I have heard a lot of good things about the coaching set-up with Phil Davies there, so I can't wait to get started and back to full match fitness."
