The Dragons are set to stay at Rodney Parade for some time |
Chairman Martyn Hazell says the Dragons are considering new investors after the stalling of a planned takeover. "The original proposal seems to be petering out, but we've other irons in the fire and hope to announce exciting news within eight weeks," said Hazell.
The new investment plans would involve ground improvements at Newport's Rodney Parade, but not a new stadium as wanted by the previous proposed investors.
Hazell suggested that recruitment of players could follow the World Cup.

"We've made some good signings of youngsters and will have a stronger squad than last season," Hazell told BBC Sport Wales.
"We're looking for more, but [coach] Paul Turner wants the right men. After the World Cup they'll be available, and we hope to bring them here."

A ground share between the Dragons and Newport County Football Club at a potential new stadium had been mooted, but Hazell says that there is no need for his region to leave Rodney Parade.
"The potential new investors want to stay here and implement stadium and ground improvements," said Hazell.
"Why would we want to move? We're in the centre of town, we've got all the facilities, and it's been good enough here for the last 125 years."
