Sloppy errors will punish Newcastle Falcons - Golding
Golding made his England debut against Barbarians in May
Newcastle Falcons prop Jon Golding has said the side must reduce their penalty count if they want to get a result against London Wasps on Friday.
Falcons were beaten 35-18 by Sale at Edgeley Park last Friday, a defeat that Golding put down to sloppiness at the ruck and in crucial areas of the field.
"The penalty count pretty much killed us," Golding told BBC Newcastle.
"You can't afford to give that many penalties away in the Premiership with the amount of good kickers around."
Golding added: "It cost us dearly. With two tries each, if we hadn't given so many points away, we'd have been there or thereabouts.
Phil's a big boy and a man with a lot of experience so it's going to be a massive battle with a guy like that

"We've got to look at that and cut those errors out. But we've learned a lot from the Sale game and we'll hopefully step it up a gear against Wasps."
Wasps arrive on Tyneside with disappointment of their own, after a 29-29 stalemate with Harlequins at Adams Park last weekend.
The encounter will see Falcons' forwards up against a powerful Wasps pack, and place Golding face-to-face with a world-class tight-head in former England captain Phil Vickery.
"Phil's a big boy and a man with a lot of experience so it's going to be a massive battle with a guy like that," Golding continued.
"He's never going to stand down so you've got to match him, and give him a hard day.
"They've got a massive pack and we've got to look at this challenge and set up a good platform for our backs to play off."
Having made his England bow against the Barbarians ahead of the summer's tour of Australasia, Golding is among the players in contention for Martin Johnson's squad during the coming months.
And the 28-year-old sees his domestic form as a catalyst for further international recognition.
"I just try and play well for my club and hopefully that will help me with that side of things," he said.
"I just want to win with this club and get it what it deserves."
