Tim Swinson defends Newcastle Falcons tactics

Swinson believes Falcons' pack can play entertaining rugby

Newcastle second row Tim Swinson has defended the club's forward-driven style of rugby and is adamant winning matches is the most important factor.

Falcons are the second lowest try scorers in the Premiership with just 11 this season but Swinson believes the pack can entertain the crowds.

"Forwards can produce good rugby," he told BBC Newcastle.

"Just because we score from driving line-outs doesn't mean it's dull, we for one just care about scoring tries."

Falcons are in Premiership action against London Irish, who are in title contention, on Saturday.

"I think every game is pretty big in the Premiership, whether its home or away or who it's against," Swinson said.

"We've prepared as we have for every week, and we're definitely looking good.

"The top six in the league is very tight so just a win or a defeat can make a difference up there and it's an important game."

Falcons are currently eighth in the Premiership, 12 points short of fourth-placed London Irish.
