Hayman is looking forward to his first captaincy at Kingston Park
Newcastle tight-head Carl Hayman has said he will not resort to bawling and shouting at his players during his captaincy this season.
Hayman, 29, has been with Falcons since 2007 and is seen as one of the best tight-head props in the world, having made 46 appearances for the All Blacks.
"My personality is more of a quiet natured guy," he told BBC Newcastle.
"I'm a firm believer in not being something that you're not, so to the boys I'll be to the point and direct."
Hayman will oversee a new-look Falcons side, one without the talents of England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson following his move to French club Toulon.
However, with players such as Junior All Black half-back Jimmy Gopperth, South African centre Gcobani Bobo and Tongan flanker Josh Afu swelling the ranks, the former Otago front-rower believes the squad remains strong going into the new campaign.
"There's a few more of the Kiwis floating around, from my point of view I'll be on the same wavelength as those guys in terms of the style of the game and how they play," he said.
"In terms of what those guys bring in, they're all great signings, credit to Steve (Bates) and his team for bringing them in, they'll add a lot to the team."
