Charlton signs new Falcons deal

Newcastle Falcons scrum-half Hall Charlton has signed a new two-year deal at Kingston Park.

Charlton, 29, has played 176 first-team games in 10 seasons with the Falcons and director of rugby Steve Bates feels he has a key role to play for the club.

"Hall is a vastly experienced performer at Guinness Premiership level, who continues to work incredibly hard at his game," said Bates.

"He is a local lad who knows what it means to represent his region's team."

Although not a regular first-choice in the Falcons side, the County Durham-born half-back is enjoying life with the club, and the challenge of forging a role for himself in Bates' first 15.

I'm working harder than ever behind the scenes

"There is real competition for places at the club right now and that is something that really motivates me as a player," added Hall.

"It is driving up standards right across the board, I'm working harder than ever behind the scenes and it looks like being exciting times next season with the quality we have here."
