London Irish sign James Sandford from Rotherham Titans

London Irish have signed former Ireland Under-20 lock James Sandford from Rotherham Titans for next season.

The 22-year-old, who captained Ulster and Irish schools at age grade, has signed a one-year contract.

"James is a young lad with a big future in the game," said London Irish head coach Toby Booth.

Sandford added: "It's going to be great to follow in the footsteps of so many great Irish players in putting on the London Irish jersey."

He continued: "It is a great club with a proud tradition and I look forward to helping them achieve success when I join next season.

"I am very grateful to Rotherham and to Andre Bester who has been a great mentor over the past season, but a move to the Exiles is a great opportunity and a chance to step up to the next level. "

Booth added: "Sandford already has the physical attributes to compete with the best in his position, youthful exuberance and a willingness to keep learning and to improve as a player."
