London Irish back Tom Homer relaxed over kicking duties

London Irish back Tom Homer says he is comfortable with being the Exiles' first choice goal-kicker.

The 21-year-old has missed most of the season with an ankle injury, but has kicked a total of 39 points in the recent wins over Exeter and Wasps.

He told BBC Berkshire: "I feel most relaxed on a rugby pitch when I'm preparing to take my kicks at goal.

"It's a natural place for me on the rugby field - I feel very comfortable at it."

Homer returned from a four-month spell on the sidelines in the defeat at Gloucester in February.

Prior to that, his only game of the season was the Premiership win over Sale, who the Exiles meet at Bolton Wanderers' Reebok Stadium on Saturday, 16 April.

"They [Sale] haven't played there before either so it's a neutral ground," said Homer. "I imagine it will be quite similar to here [Madejski Stadium].

"The Reebok is a big stadium with a very firm ground. The bowl shape means the wind isn't as strong so it gives you more things to aim at beyond the post."
