Blaney is in his first season with Irish since joining from Leinster
London Irish hooker Brian Blaney says he is determined to improve after a difficult start with the Exiles.
Blaney scored twice on Sunday as he made his first start against Northampton in the LV= Cup.
He told BBC Berkshire: "I missed the pre-season through a freak injury with a glass vase.
"I came on against Leicester and had an absolute shocker - I was unfit, I didn't know the calls. I want to push on and this was a massive game for me."
He added: "From a personal point-of-view I was more happy with the line-outs, with the 100% accuracy.
"The two tries were bonuses as my job first is scrummaging and line-outs."
Despite losing their first two pool matches, beating Northampton means that Irish could still progress to the semi-finals of the LV= Cup, although they need Newport and Saracens to lose.
Blaney continued: "I'll be honest, I've no idea what's going on in the LV= Cup, no idea.
"It's their way of doing it and I suppose it makes sense to them, but I haven't made sense of it yet. I just go out to win every game."
Gloucester versus London Irish kicks off at 1500 GMT on Saturday 5 February and is live on BBC Radio Berkshire.
