London Irish have added experienced Leinster hooker Brian Blaney to their squad for next season.

Blaney, who played 71 times for the Heineken Cup Champions, has been capped by Ireland A and Ireland Schools.

The 28-year-old said: "I look forward to following in the footsteps of some of the great Irishmen who have played for the club."

Head coach Toby Booth added: "He is a very experienced and tenacious hooker who'll complement our squad perfectly."

"Competition for places is paramount in our squad to sustain levels of performance," Booth continued. "Brian will continue our strength and competiveness in the hooker position."

Blaney was educated at Terenure College, whose alumni include former London Irish player Conor O'Shea and Girvan Dempsey, before joining Leinster in 2003.
