London Irish's pre-season game against Irish club De la Salle Palmerston on Wednesday 18 August has been cancelled on safety grounds. In a statement, the club apologised to supporters for any inconvenience caused. It continued: "This decision has not been taken lightly. Unfortunately, there are now insufficient players of a similar playing standard available. "The safety of players has to be of paramount importance." The Exiles next pre-season friendly will be against the Dragons on Saturday 21 August, kick off 1500 BST.
