Fine weather suits London Irish style says Paul Hodgson

London Irish scrum-half Paul Hodgson has said he is hoping that better weather later in the season will help improve his side's performances.

Irish are fourth in the Premiership after beating Sale 38-0 at the weekend and go to Wasps on Sunday.

Hodgson told BBC Berkshire: "Our team has lads from all corners of the globe.

"There's a strong belief that we want to enjoy our rugby. When the sun's out and conditions are good, that's when you can enjoy your rugby the most."

He added: "Hopefully, with the weather turning better towards the end of the season, it'll bring us some good fortune as well."

The Exiles have not won at Adams Park since April 2004, when they won a remarkable match 56-37.

Hodgson continued: "We've pushed them close every time we've played, with just a score separating the teams.

We'll pay Wasps a huge amount of respect and know we'll have to be at our best to beat them

"They're always close encounters and always great games and this weekend will be another one. Both teams are vying for that fourth spot - I'm just looking forward to it.

He added: "They're very direct, they're a physical team who'll target the break-down. I think you know what you're going to get, but they do it very well and have been very successful with it for years.

"We'll pay Wasps a huge amount of respect and know we'll have to be at our best to beat them."

Wasps versus London Irish kicks off 1330 BST on Sunday, 4 April and is live on BBC Berkshire.
