Bowden is renowned in New Zealand for his attacking flair |
London Irish have signed utility back Daniel Bowden from Super 14 side Crusaders on a two-year contract. The 23-year-old New Zealander plays at fly-half and inside centre. Bowden made his Super 14 debut in February 2008 for the Highlanders before switching to Crusaders at the start of the current competition. "We're confident he'll have an instant impact, his versatility is attractive and he is a renowned goal kicker," Exiles head coach Toby Booth said. "Everybody associates us with a certain brand of rugby and our recruitment of Daniel is specifically related to our ability to play that brand. "Mike Catt is very excited to integrate him into our already potent attack". Bowden said: "I am excited about linking up with London Irish after I finish the Super 14 season with Crusaders. "I've watched Irish play over recent seasons and I feel it is a team and style of rugby that I'm looking forward to being a part of." Auckland-born Bowden has represented his country at Under-17, 19 and 21 levels.
