Davies is the leading try scorer in Llanelli Scarlets' history |
Once-capped Wales full-back Barry Davies has finalised his move to French club Brive after agreeing the early end of his Llanelli Scarlets contract. "The money offered was huge and when you throw in the lifestyle the decision was a no-brainer, I hope to finish my career here," he told the Evening Post.
"I haven't given up on a Wales spot. If I'm consistent with Brive, who knows?"
The Carmarthen man, 26, has been at Stradey since 2000 and is the top try scorer in the region's history with 37.
"We've mutually agreed the early termination of Barry's contract," said Scarlets boss Stuart Gallacher.
"I would like to thank him for his service to the team and the region over the last seven years and wish him luck for his future career."

Davies has made 149 appearances for Llanelli and the Scarlets, scoring a total of 56 tries, and his only Welsh cap came last year against Ireland.
"The support I have had over the past seven years has been tremendous but now is the right time in my career to seek a new and fresh challenge," said Davies, who is also believed to have received an offer from Montauban.
"I want to wish all the boys the best of luck for next season. I won't be a stranger as I've already promised to come back around Christmas time and watch them."
He says he is excited by the potential of 1997 Heineken Cup champions Brive on a two-year contract.
''I went out there, had a meal with the owner and was shown around," said Davies.
"It is a great place and there are plans for a new 25,000-seater stadium.
"My girlfriend will be coming out with me and Brive are getting her a job, so everything is in place."
